Hunterdon County is one of the fastest growing areas in the country - and with good reason!
Once a strong agricultural community, in the last decade Hunterdon County has developed as a professional and corporate center, accompanied by an influx of affluent young professionals.
In its move from predominantly rural to a corporate commuting economy, the county has grown at 10 times the national rate and at twice the rate of the rest of the New Jersey. The largest segment of Hunterdon's population is made up of 35- to 55-year-olds, especially 35- to 45-year-olds.
Bisected from west to east by Interstate 78, Hunterdon County is less than 35 miles from Newark International Airport. NJ Route 31 south links Hunterdon to the nearby state capital in Trenton, Philadelphia and south Jersey. Route 31 north connects to Rt. 46 and Interstate 80 leading to the scenic Delaware Water Gap in the northwestern part of the state.
